Day Thirty: And the Mistral Will Blow Us to Spain.

Travel day again, but only for 2 1/2 hours. This time I keep to the Expressways and we are on time. Now I must say that last night there was no WIFI in our room at the hotel. And WIFI is very important when you are writing a blog and trying to communicate with the States. Doing via phone carriers is just too expensive. Here in  Beziers the internet is great so nooooo problems.

As I said, the drive was short, but the Mistral was really blowing as we left Aix. The Mistral is this Autumnal wind that blows across Provence and makes the temperature feel much colder that it really is. Many people who live there have tried to explain it but you have to experience it to really understand. It can be so bad, that they put windsoxes along the highway to show trucks how strong the wind is.

So few pictures except for our lunch at a marina nearby Beziers before we go to our apartment for the next two nights.

 Our Marina

Sailing along after over a month together.
I think this vest has padded sections I didn't know about.
 My stuffed Squid. Great.
 Linda's Seafood salad.
 Mary Ann's Squid.

The couple next to us came so they could text with their friends.

We are back in the car and on our way to our Apartment in Beziers. What a nice and friendly town. And our apartment is just off a nice plaza and street with lots of restaurant and bars. We rest and go out for dinner.

The staircase up to our bedroom. Linda is on the first floor
So we walk in at street level to our apartment, but by the time we get to the back of the apartment, we are four stories up. Maybe this was built on a hill?
Statue of the man who built the Midi Canal linking the Mediterranean Sea with the Atlantic Ocean in the 1600's.
 Typical Beziers alley

The local theater here in Beziers.
 A toilet disguised as advertisement.

With Mary Ann in the lead, she leads us to another plaza where we find a restaurant with such a nice host. Formerly from Belgium, he had worked in Luxembourg before opening this restaurant in Beziers. Linda and I had great steak and Mary Ann Belgium meatballs. And the desserts were to die for.All of this just outside a 16th century church.

 The church at night.
A purple tree on our way back.
The alleys are lit with really nice lanterns.
 A close up.
 Each one is different.
They light our way.
Outside our apartment at night.

So this is one of the first towns on this trip that none of the three of us have been to. It is such a delight to find such a jewel and share it together.

We will explore it more tomorrow.
