Day Sixteen: The Unknown Paris or I'll not have what Phil's having.

So there is this show on Cable (Netflix or whatever) called "I'll Have What Phil's Having". Travelogue, food thingy that we watched when things were slow in North Carolina. In one episode he went to Paris and had the very best croissants of his life and went on to tell the difference between curved and straight croissants (see previous blog). So we go to this bakery in Paris which happens to be not far from our hotel. Very small with many foreigners eating pastry on a chilly October morning. And guess what........ We had better outside of Sarlat the day before. They were just average. Fame can ruin so many things.
Next problem is I have to move the car from expensive near hotel lot found very quickly, to a much cheaper one several blocks away. By this time Jessica has joined us, so the four of us set off in search of the parking garage. Well of course we drive more than we need to but do find it, park the car and set off in search of 1. local market, 2. lunch place. not necessarily in that order. After we get a little distance from the Parking Garage, someone realizes they have left their phone in the car. So Jessica and I decide to go back to the garage to find the phone, while Mary Ann and Linda have a drink at a cafe.
We find the phone in the car. Now Paris has converted an old above ground railroad  overhead line into a "green line" walkway/hiking trail. Guess what. It goes from the Parking Garage to the cafe where Mary Ann and Linda are. So Jessica and I walk the trail. How sweet it is.

Well by the time Jessica and I get back to Mary Ann and Linda it is time for lunch. We walk down a side street and what should appear ( not not a shiny sled and eight reindeer) but an open air market. I love these. We spent at least an hour looking at the stalls before we sat for lunch.

 Vegetables Fresh Fresh Fresh.
Such a delight but such a shame we don't have cooking facilities.
This market stretches for blocks.

So after seeing all that food, what does one do? Eat of course.

Beef Tongue, Tan gene Chicken and Pork sirloin. And lots of wine.

Then we walked back to our hotel via the old railroad viaduct. It goes on and on.

 Lots of bamboo.

Ditto.

After that, Mary Ann and Linda went to rest and Jessica and I walked to the area where she was staying. Between that is the Paris Botanical Garden. What a treat.

A very small part of the garden.

Then Mary Ann and Linda meet us and we walked Jessica's area of Paris and had a late snack since lunch was so big, She is in a really great part of Paris.

So bade adieu to Jessica promising to meet tomorrow and travel to Monet's home outside of Paris Giverny where we will have a picnic and enjoy the countryside.
