Day Nineteen: Champagne Taste, Beer pocketbook

Well we said good bye for now to Paris. Always sad to leave such a wonderful city. I do believe we will be back.

We are off to Luxembourg for two nights and so guess what we drive right through Champagne country. We head to Reims and a champagne lunch. First stop is in Reims to see the lovely cathedral where all the French kings were crowned. We were last there 30 some years ago but it was closed  for restoration. Not this time. And free to enter. Some pictures foloow.

 Ditto
 Reims Cathedral inside

 Reims Rose Window.
Bloody Mary from "South Pacific" was there with selfie stick. Now ain't that too damn bad.

Very high up windows.

So I make the executive decision to leave Reims and eat at a quaint Champagne village East of the city. Reims is one of the centers for champagne production. I have got this one down.Yes it takes us some time to find the back road that parallels the expressway but we do. Now here is the strange part. All of these villages appear to be closed up. I mean there are noone around and no restaurants in sight. Pass around the remaining chocolate and bread and keep hoping. We finally find a town called Vouziers.  And the only place open was a pizza shop. So our last meal in France for a while was pizza.

The road less taken.

We arrive in Luxembourg and not only is the town in a construction boom, but our hotel is in a pedestrian only area. Makes the "Circle of Death" in Paris look tame. After driving around for almost an hour and some not so kind words exchanged between the pilot and navigator, we get to our hotel, which is right on one of the best squares/plazas in Luxembourg.Time to relax, have some drinks and then go for dinner.

 Our hotel in Luxembourg.
Marvelous steak dinner for a guy who wasn't hungry.
And a cheeseburger for Linda. And no champagne for any of us. But who could eat after having had "The best damn pizza in Vouziers, France". We will be in Luxembourg for another night so we will explore (on foot) this wonderful and strange city. More tomorrow
