More Steps? June 20th

Over 700 stair steps in the Cinque Terra hike. Over 200 climbing the Leaning Tour of Pisa. So what do we do in Fierenza?  414 steps up the bell tower of the Duomo, not to mention 100 steps in yhe Uffizi museum.  But I am getting ahead of myself.
We wake late after a late night. It is quiet till we run out of toilet paper. Bryan goes out and comes back with that plus croissants and sandwiches. Today we will start with the outdoor market Fierenza is famous for. All kinds of stuff and lots of Florentine leather goods. We start out with Mary Ann catching up with us later. She will shower and start a load of wash. The Mansels use the market to buy gifts for people back home and I watch. Sorry folks back home. No gifts from us this time. Then I discover the Florentine indoor food market. A feast for the eyes, nose and palette.  A shame we can't take a bunch of it home with us.

Mary Ann and Annie checking the fish.

 Fresh meat and more.

The Fruit section.

A sandwich lunch in the market and it is time to explore Fierenza. The Duomo is just a couple blocks away so we are off. We get tickets that include 5 sites but since time is limited, we choose one each. Renai, Kirsten, Annie and I choose to climb the bell tower (previously mentioned),  while Mary Ann and Bryan choose the church. 414 steps later we are above the city.

 Narrow stair.

After the tower, we all go to see the Iffizi museum.  I like museums, but always get an art overload after about an hour. And just as we are leaving, a parade breaks out.

Parade.

We make our way back towards the apartment and have yet another dinner al fresco. Tomorrow we drive to the Cinque Terra.
