Back to Rome. June 11th.

Woke one last time in Amalfi, had breakfast, packed the car one last time and headed to Rome via Positano.  The idea was to drive to Positano and have lunch at Tres Soriel Restaurant. But we could not find a place to park the car before we found out we were out of Positano. I offered to drive back in and find a place, but most people just wanted to leave.  Too bad.

The only exciting part of the ride is trying to get lunch.  Simply get off at an exit and eat something Italian.  But the exit I chose puts us in a dusty town that looks more like Mexico than Italy.  Does not appear to have any restaurants, and there is literally liter everywhere. Bags of garbage line the sides of the road.  Quick retreat and we eat at a place on the Autostrada. Its OK but not someplace I would eat again.  We were able to stock up on water and candy for the rest of the trip.
We get to the apartment in Rome a little early, but our host has become unreachable. He finally shows up 45 minutes late to some less than friendly ladies.  Rome is hot this time of year.  But we get in and while the rest of them nap, I go out for supplies.  I find a small store, but they only take cash so I trudge back to the apartment, get cash and head back out.
A restaurant nearby is found that has a good rating, so that's where we head to.  But nothing is simple.  Trying to get a taxi for 5 people is one thing, trying to communicate that and make a call to get a taxi is another.  One lady tells us to take the bus, "Don't worry about tickets. Tell them ticket place was closed."  While waiting for the bus, Mary Ann flags down a taxi that will take all of us.  Here is where you should be hearing the circus music they play when all the clowns get in and out of one of those tiny cars. "Dump dump ditty ditty dump dump ditty ......" Well you get the idea.
Restaurant found.  What we didn't know is that it would take 2 hours to get our food.  Many apologies to us but we will not be back home till 11:00 pm.  A late night for us and an early day tomorrow for Mary Ann and I since we are returning car and picking up The Mansels.
