History 101 June 13th

We wake and head to the Colosseum to meet up with Patty, Amanda and Kathy.  Since we are running late, Patty stands in line to get everyone tickets. Yea Patty.  It is hot but not as hot as it was for the early Christians in the Colosseum.  Poor martyr's.  I know Bryan appreciates it and I hope the kids do to.

It was hot

We next go to the Roman Forum and the Palatine hills.  All close by. And included on the tickets Patty bought.  Bryan, Renai, Patty and I go up to the Palatine, while Mary Ann and Annie go for ice cream and Kirsten and Amanda go do their own exploring.  As for me, it is always a thrill to she Livia's house and think back to the great performance Sian Phillips gave as her on I Claudius.

A Place fit for the Gods.  You pick which one.

Ceasars resting place. They really did bury him.
A Real Roman Godess.

After the history lesson, we hopped on a subway to eat downtown by the main terminal.  Nice meal with lots of fish.
Then Renai and I need to buy train tickets to the Cinque Terra for tomorrow and the rest go shopping at a street market.  We accomplish all of the above and then find out that there is a Gay Pride Parade two blocks over today.  Both Amanda and Kirsten want to see it so the three of us go. What a happy celebration.

We head home and pack for the Cinque Terra tomorrow.
